The Pohang Steel Art Festival is an art festival held in Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and was first started in 2012. Pohang is where the headquarters of ‘POSCO’, a global steel company, is located, and through this festival, the city sought to artistically express its identity as a ‘City of steel industry’. Therefore, the goal of the festival is to revitalize local culture by combining Pohang's representative industry, the steel industry, with art and pursue a sensuous aesthetic experience using iron as a material.

During the festival period, various programs are operated, including Art tours, Citizen participatory education projects, Field experience events, Participatory art production programs, and Fringe performances. Visitors can appreciate steel sculptures, installation art, and performances created by famous domestic and foreign artists, and become closer to art by participating in the creation of the works. In particular, you can get a sense of the beauty of works that combine the Intensity of steel & the Creativity of art.

Pohang Steel Art Festival provides local residents and tourists with the opportunity to simultaneously experience the value and artistic potential of the steel industry. It also plays an important role in helping Pohang transform from a steel industry city to a city of culture and arts. The Pohang Steel Art Festival is attended by approximately 150,000 people every year and has established itself as a representative culture and arts festival in Pohang. It has successfully museum-ization (transformed city center into the museum) and is expected to develop into an international festival in the future.
