Pohang is a city located on the east coast of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republic of Korea, and is a historically important port city and industrial center. As a major base for maritime transportation, seafood and commercial trade are active, and it has grown into a major port on the east coast, serving as the center of the local economy.

As it entered modern times, Pohang developed rapidly under the influence of industrialization. Meanwhile, there is a base for the Republic of Korea Navy in Pohang, and there are many military bases along the road to Guryongpo.
