    Pohang is a city located on the east coast of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republic of Korea, and is a historically important port city and industrial center. As a major base for maritime transportation, seafood and commercial trade are active, and it has grown into a major port on the east coast, serving as the center of the local economy.

     

     

    As it entered modern times, Pohang developed rapidly under the influence of industrialization. Starting in the 1960s, large industrial complexes were built, and with the establishment of POSCO, it became the center of Korea's major steel industry. POSCO grew into a global steel company, and Pohang established its status as an industrial city. It’s a city that has achieved rapid development in various fields such as transportation, commerce, and culture, with a focus on fisheries and industry.

     

    Today's Pohang is also famous for its beautiful east coast and diverse cultural heritage. There are many tourist attractions such as Yeongil Bay, Homigot, and Guryongpo, Jukdo Market, and Space Walk, etc. Many tourists visit Pohang every year, especially on the first day of the new year (01 January), where many people to see the sunrise. Meanwhile, there is a base for the Republic of Korea Navy in Pohang, and there are many military bases along the road to Guryongpo. In this way, Pohang's development is evaluated as a good example of Korea's industrialization and modernization process, and it’s a city expected to continue to grow in the future.
