  • Samgyetang

Samgyetang is a traditional Korean health food made by boiling young chicken (Younggye) in water with medicinal herbs, ginseng, jujubes, and glutinous rice. In this process, the chicken is softened, and the broth absorbs sufficient nutrients from the ingredients for a rich taste. Samgyetang is known to be good for recovering from fatigue and strengthening immunity, especially thanks to the efficacy of ginseng, and it can also be expected to have the effect of cooling down the body by sweating while eating hot soup. For this reason, Samgyetang is a favorite food to eat to make up for the body's tiredness from the summer heat.

Samgyetang originated from the fact that some wealthy people began to eat chicken soup or chicken soup during Japanese colonial era. It settled down as a dish called 'Gye-sam-tang' around 1950, mainly because chicken was the main ingredient and ginseng was an ingredient. However, as ginseng became popular, the name gradually changed the order before and after, and became 'Samgyetang'. After that, when meat consumption increased rapidly, samgyetang, where you can eat ginseng with a chicken, began to draw more attention. Today, samgyetang is gaining huge popularity not only from Koreans but also from foreign tourists due to its soft and healthy taste. In particular, it is recognized as a health food of the world by exporting to global markets such as Canada, Japan, and Europe starting with the United States in 2014.
